Zebrino - Poetry Films for Kids

ZEBRINO features poems as films in many colours and styles for children of 8-12 years. The programme shows German and international poetry films about daydreaming while doing homework, the greatest love, true friendship, flying whales and the discovery of one’s own plurality.
Admission free for schools. Subscribe under bildung(at)literaturwerkstatt.org.

Wir laden alle Poeten und Filmemacher zum weltweiten Start von CONTINENTAL DRIFT ein! CONTINENTAL DRIFT ist ein internationales Projekt, bei dem Ketten aus Gedichten und Poesiefilmen nach dem dem spielerischen Prinzip von "stille Post" entstehen. Sie bilden eine interaktive Webseite, bei der Dichter und Filmemacher weltweit mitmachen können! Martin Jabs (Berlin) und Wyn Mason (Wales) präsentieren die Idee und die Webseite www.continental-drift.org und führen die ersten Beiträge in einer Premiere vor. Eintritt frei

This programme will tell you how much writing poetry and surfing complement each other. Have you always wondered how poems are written or why the life of a poet sometimes has to be excessive? Documentaries and feature films reveal what it means to be a poet.

Vernissage: Public Poetry Matters

Three visual artists with poetic veins comment in this exhibition on public matters. In a critical approach to national politics and legislation, established culture and it’s language are transformed into a playful poetry. eddie d, Matt Hulse and Pim Zwier each relate to punk culture but come out with totally different artworks. We get a radical view on how politicians communicate with their subjects without saying anything, how the government communicates local legislation in a language nobody speaks, and our national anthems were never meant to be actually listened to,were they?

Poetry and music just belong together. Rhythm and rhyme harmonise in many wonderful melodies. Poetry has always moved artists in other genres to create performances and choreographies. It is lovely to see how a loving wife only makes her husband ersatz coffee all his life and he never notices. How bizarre does it sound when someone philosophises about addiction? Or what do Marco Polo and high heels really have in common?

To complement the exhibition Public Poetry Matters we present experimental poetry films from the current crop of entries following on from the opening. With its resonant images, this programme oscillates between media art and film and expands the space of poetry, sometimes with silence and sometimes with musical intensity. A one-hour programme shown on a loop.

The ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival presents poets whose works have been the basis for festival films, such as Paul Bogaert, Gerhard Falkner, Bob Holman, Alice Lyons and Anne Waldman. This 'contact forum for poetry and film' is an opportunity for filmmakers to gain inspiration for new film projects from the poets present and their texts and to get into conversation with them.
