Haus für Poesie

Vocations – open space ist eine Reihe des Haus für Poesie in Kooperation mit der Junge Akademie, Akademie der Künste, dem Berliner Künstlerprogramm, dem silent green Kulturquartier und der Kulturstiftung Schloss Wiepersdorf.  

Vocations – open space veranstaltet 2024 vier Abende in der Kuppelhalle des silent green Kulturquartier, bei denen jeweils bis zu zwanzig Künstler:innen auftreten können. Als Format ist Vocations – open space dabei radikal offen für verschiedenste Formen musikalischer und stimmlicher Praktiken, die auf poetische Sprache rekurrieren.  

Am 9. Oktober und am 3. Dezember werden im Rahmen von Vocations – open space Lesungen, Performances und musikalische Beiträge mit vorrangig in Berlin lebenden Interpret:innen, Dichter:innen und Performer:innen stattfinden. Bis zu Zweidrittel aller Beiträge für die open spaces schreiben wir frei aus.  

Bewerbt Euch mit Euren künstlerischen Beiträgen: 

Bewerben können sich Einzelpersonen oder Kollektive mit Kurzbiografie(n) und Arbeitsprobe(n). Gern könnt ihr auch ein knappes Konzept für einen für den Abend konzipierten (gern kollaborativen) Beitrag einreichen. 

Bitte beachtet, dass wir vorrangig eine technische Grundausstattung zur Verfügung stellen werden (wir versuchen aber immer, besondere Bedarfe zu ermöglichen) und dass es am Aufführungstag aufgrund der Menge der Auftretenden nur eine begrenzte Zeit für eine Anspielprobe gibt. Bitte nennt uns daher insbesondere Euren technischen Bedarf und gebt an, was Ihr eventuell selbst mitbringen würdet, und nennt uns Euren bevorzugten Auftrittstermin. Ein Konzertflügel (Yamaha S4 SH PE) ist vorhanden, bitte gebt an, wenn Ihr diesen benötigt. 

Das Honorar für eine Teilnahme an Vocations – open space beträgt 400 Euro pro Person. Künstler:innen, die exklusiv für den Abend einen Beitrag konzipieren oder aufwändigere/probenintensive Performances zeigen, erhalten angemessene höhere Honorare.  

Anreisen und Übernachtung werden übernommen. Wir haben aber nur ein begrenztes Budget für Anreisen, daher werden wir viele Berliner Künstler:innen einladen. 

Bewerbungszeitrum: 09.07.2024-28.07.2024  

Die Rahmenbedingungen für eine Bewerbung:    

• Du lebst in Deutschland, bevorzugt in Berlin. 

• Du schreibst oder performst / Ihr schreibt oder performt Poesie in stimmlicher Praxis (Lesung, Gesang, Soundperformance mit poetischem Bezug, Lautpoesie, Instrumentalperformance mit poetischem Bezug ...) bevorzugt auf Deutsch oder Englisch oder Deine / Eure Texte/Werke liegen textlich möglichst in deutsch- oder englischsprachiger Übersetzung vor. Falls eine textgebundene Performance ohne Übersetzung ins Deutsche oder Englische konzipiert ist oder eine Performance mit poetischem Bezug ohne Text funktioniert, kann dies in der Bewerbung angegeben werden und diese Bewerbungen werden ebenfalls berücksichtigt. 

• Dein / Euer Auftritt ist konzipiert für maximal 7 Minuten pro beteiligter Person. Bitte schickt uns Eure finale Text-/Stückauswahl beziehungsweise Euer Performancekonzept (plus gegebenenfalls Übersetzungen) für den Auftritt und eine Auflistung der Technik, die benötigt wird. Je nach poetischer Praxis könnt Ihr sehr gerne auch Audio – oder Videodateien einreichen. Ihr könnt Eure Dateien auf der letzten Seite des Anmeldeformulars hochladen. 

• Die Daten werden nach der Vervollständigung des Anmeldeformulars automatisch übertragen. Eine Bestätigungsmail über den Erhalt wird nicht verschickt.

Vocations – open space is an event series organised by Haus für Poesie in cooperation with Junge Akademie, Akademie der Künste, Berliner Künstlerprogramm, silent green Kulturquartier and Kulturstiftung Schloss Wiepersdorf. 

Vocations – open space is offering four evenings in the Kuppelhalle of silent green Kulturquartier in 2024, with up to twenty artists performing each evening. Our idea behind te project is to remain radically open to all forms of musical and vocal practices that draw on poetic language.  

On 9 October and 3 December, readings and performances with poets, singers, musicians and performers will take place as part of Vocations – open space. Up to two-thirds of all contributions to the open spaces will be chosen from the results of this open call.  

Apply with your ideas for an artistic contribution:

Individuals or collectives can apply with a short biography and work sample(s). You are also welcome to submit a brief concept for a (collaborative) contribution conceived for the evening. 

Please note that we will primarily provide basic technical equipment. However, please let us your technical requirements also if they are more extensive, as well as what you may be able to bring with you, and we will work with you on this. Please note also that on the day of the event due to the number of artistic contributions there is only time for a sound check, not for an entire rehearsal. Please also and let us know your preferred performance date. A grand piano will be available, please let us know if you need it. 

The fee for participation in Vocations – open space is at 400 euros per person. Artists who conceive a contribution exclusively for the evening or present more elaborate/rehearsal-intensive performances will receive appropriately higher fees. 

Travel and accommodation can be covered. However, we only have a limited budget for travel and accommodation needs, so we will invite many artists living and working in Berlin.

The general conditions for an application: 

• You live in Germany, preferably in Berlin. 

• You write or perform poetry in vocal practices (reading, singing, sound performance with poetic references, sound poetry, instrumental performance with poetic references, ...) preferably in German or English or your texts/works are available in German or English translation. However, also concepts in other languages will be considered if, for example, a text-based performance is conceived without translation into German or English or a performance with poetic references works without text. This should be explicitly stated in the application and these concepts will also be considered. 

• Your performance is designed for a maximum of 7 minutes per participant. Please send us your final text/piece selection or your performance concept (plus any translations) for the performance and a list of your technical requirements. Depending on your poetic practice, you are also welcome to submit audio or video files. You can upload any files at the end of the registration form below. 

• Once completed the form, the data will be transferred automatically. A confirmation email will not be generated.
