The path of German-Moroccan artist Aziza Alaoui has taken her from her birthplace, Casablanca, via France, Spain, Italy and Germany to Mexico, where she has lived since 1992. In her landscape paintings, Alaoui gives expression to her experience of nature. Her installation "Rencontres", comprising two mobiles, deals with the coming-together of man and woman on the level of dream.

A 'poetic cloak-and-dagger operation': sixteen poets from Germany and Italy smuggle their poems to-and-fro across the borders of languages. With the aid of word-for-word gloss translations they grapple with each other syllable-for-syllable, and helped by interpreters they harmonise with each other sound-by-sound. The results of this poetic dialogue will be presented on two evenings, offering a selection of the most significant voices in contemporary Italian and German verse.

Two cantaores and two poets will be tracing this original connection between poetry and the sound of the guitar and bringing to the stage not only their own work but also that of such greats as Miguel Hernández, Joan Brossa and Jorge Luis Borges.
