Images and words have been closely related since time immemorial. In the 20th century, a literary genre named concrete poetry emerged in which the arrangement of words is of equal importance in conveying meaning as the words themselves. This exhibition presents concrete poetry from Catalonia with works by Joan Broassa (Barcelona, 1919 - 1998), Guillem Viladot (Agramunt, 1922 - Barcelona, 1999) and Iglesias Del Marquet (Artesa de Lleida, 1932 - Barcelona, 1989).
There are conceptual parallels between these authors and concrete poets from the Darmstadt Circle, namely Daniel Spoerri, Dieter Roth, Claus Bremer, Emmet Williams. The exhibition brings together 30 "poemas visuales" by Brossa, 24 "Pósters Poemas" by Viladot and "Postales Noramericanas" by Del Marquet. There is also an anthology in which concrete poets from Catalonia celebrate the artists on display.
An exhibition by the Instituto Cervantes in partnership with the Fundació Privada Guillem Viladot and kindly supported by the institut ramon llull.
