We are celebrating the opening of this year’s ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival in Berlin together with guests, film makers and poets.

And the winner is … 20 films are competing in the Germany-wide competition for four prizes with a total value of € 12,000.

For Prism, the programme commission has selected 35 films from the more than 500 submitted, to be shown in four programmes demonstrating the wide spectrum of the German poetry film.

ZEBRA presents the latest generation of poetry films by ten German universities, a colloquium and a master class with Jochen Kuhn.

COLLOQUIUM: THE EYE OF THE POEM
Sophie Maintigneux, Anna Anders, Tim Webb and Sarah Tremlett talk about their many years of works with their students in Great Britain and Germany.

MASTER CLASS: BETWEEN FILM AND POETRY
In this master class, Jochen Kuhn will be talking about his extensive oeuvre, techniques for transferring paintings into animated films and his unique process for combining texts with moving images.

FESTIVAL POEM 2019
This year the ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival invited film makers to submit film versions of the festival poem “[native vegetation a natural resource]” by Daniel Falb.

WORD PICTURES – A ZEBRA NIGHT OF READINGS
Five poets whose poems have provided the basis for film entries in this year’s competition and Prism read their festival poems and current work.

ZEBRINO COMPETITION
Great poetry cinema from all over the world! For the ZEBRINO competition children get to vote themselves for their favourite films. All films are moderated in a manner suitable for children by media educationalists.
