Haus für Poesie

Tom Konyves, geboren 1947, ist ein kanadischer Dichter, Filmemacher und einer der Pioniere auf dem Gebiet der Videopoesie. Konyves lehrt „Creative Visual Writing“ an der University of the Fraser Valley. Ende der 1970er Jahre prägte er den Begriff „Videopoetry“. In seiner Meisterklasse erläutert der Videopoet das Zusammenwirken von Film und Poesie sowie die Bedeutung des Films für die Lyrik. Der Videokünstler und -theoretiker spricht über seine künstlerische Herangehensweise und die Charakteristika von Videopoemen.

"From the beginning, I wanted to see videopoetry that, intentionally or not, would tell us more about itself as an artform, as if it were an existential question,  what it should be, and how it should distinguish itself. So I started to look for a certain amount of self-consciousness, a gesture, a Eureka moment, a “transfiguration of the commonplace” into something different, even significant.
