Ulrike Draesner
Ulrike Draesner studied at universities in Germany and England. She lives in Berlin and works as a freelance writer. Her work includes novels, short stories, poetry and essays. Her latest publications are the novel ‘Mitgift’ (2001), the volume of stories ‘Hot Dogs’ (2002), the poetry collection ‘kugelblitz’ (2005), the novel ‘Spiele’ (2005), a volume of essays ‘Schöne Frauen lesen’ (2007) and the poetry collection “berührte orte” (2008). Draesner has won many awards for her work, including the first ‘Preis der Literaturhäuser’ and the Droste prize. More under www.draesner.de
Heinz Hermanns
Heinz Hermanns has been head of the short film festival interfilm berlin and of the distribution and rental company of the same name since 1985. Co-founder of the Berlin cinema Eiszeit, he has been invited to numerous international festivals and onto various selection panels through his work as a film curator. He has also specialized in lectures on film language as exemplified in short films, lectures which have brought him international recognition. Between 1990 and 1996 he was artistic co-director of the Pollicino film and video festival in Sicily. The first international subway short film festival ‘Going Underground’, a cooperation with the subway TV station ‘Berliner Fenster’, was brought into being by him in 2002.
Carlos A. Morelli
Director, screenwriter and producer Carlos A. Morelli from Uruguay has made numerous short films, long films and documentaries which have won international acclaim. His awards include the prize for the best script for the film “Alguien debe morir” at the Mostra de Vídeos Mercosul and the Best Foreign Film prize at the Festival Sueños cortos in Buenos Aires. He has also taught at several colleges, especially in Latin America. He currently has a DAAD scholarship in the Berlin Artists-in-Residence Programme.
Hans-Friedrich Schimkönig
Hans-Friedrich Schimkönig
Hans-Friedrich Schimkönig is a director and screenwriter. He studied at the Film and Television College in Babelsberg. In 1997 and 1998 he was the director of the SehSüchte international students’ film festival. He produced the documentary Vanishing Day in Venice. He went on to work as director and screenwriter for the short film Teltow Blues and its follow-up project, the Arte / RBB / MDR co-production Paris Teltow. Most recently he has been developing script ideas for cinema films with Michael Klier as well as his own film projects.
Ulf Stolterfoht
Ulf Stolterfoht studied German and General Linguistics in Bochum and Tübingen. He debuted in 1998 with the poetry collection ‘fachsprachen I–IX’ (Lingos I–IX). He has published several collections of poems with Urs Engeler, the most recent being ‘holzrauch über heslach’ (2007). For his texts he immerses himself in the most various kinds of terminology and texts such as ‘Instructions for Pig Breeding from State-Owned Businesses in the GDR’. Technical terms are removed from their original context and recombined in surprising and often very funny ways. He has won numerous prizes, including the 2001 Christine Lavant Poetry Prize, the 2005 Anna Seghers Prize and the 2008 Peter Huchel Prize.
Heiko Strunk
Heiko Strunk studied literature, philosophy and politics in Marburg and Berlin. Since 1999 he has been the project manager of the internet platform lyrikline.org, which received the ‘Grimme Online Award’ in 2005 and has been awarded the ‘Landmark 2008’ title by the ‘Germany – Land of Ideas’ initiative. Heiko Strunk is editor and director of various poetry audio books (incl. Derek Walcott, Adolf Endler, Durs Grünbein, Gerhard Falkner / David Moss and Inger Christensen).
