The Balkan peninsular has long been seen as the epicentre of social and political turbulance. It is currently an insecure bridge on the refugee route to western Europe. A region full of open wounds, riven with nationalism and its ideologies, it is a transit region and often final destination for people full of despair and hope. If we thought that walls and borders in the Balkans were already a thing of the past, we can now see how they are once again being erected.
These writers with roots in the Balkan countries will be discussing how recent social and political developments in their homelands have affected their writing.
The event will have English-German interpreting available.
