From 6.-8. December 2018 the ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival Münster | Berlin takes place in Berlin. The venue and festival center is the cinema in the KulturBrauerei. At at the end of September, 66 international films competed for the favor of the juries and the audience at the first edition this year in Münster. A program commission, consisting of experts from film and poetry, selected the films for the competition and recommended others for the festival program. A jury from the fields of poetry, film and media selected the winning films. Now the films from the International, the German - speaking as well as the ZEBRINO competition for children and adolescents will also be shown in Berlin. The full program will be available shortly.
The ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival has been around since 2002. It was the first and is the largest international platform for short films based on poetry - the poetry films. Every two years, it offers poets, film and festival makers from all over the world a platform for creative exchange, brainstorming and meeting with a broad audience. With a competition, film programs, poetry readings, retrospectives, exhibitions, performances, workshops, colloquia, lectures and a children's program, it presents in various sections the diversity of the genre of poetry film.
The festival has grown steadily since its foundation. In 2018, over 1,200 submissions from 97 countries were submitted for the competition. In recent years, the festival has been hosted in nearly 50 countries around the world. The best poetry films are presented regularly in the program of the Haus für Poesie, including in the monthly series ZEBRA-Poesiefilmclub.
