Vokalquintett Berlin (c) Vokalquintett

The Vokalquintett Berlin with singers from Germany, Austria and Israel has quickly made a name for itself in its six years of existence for its interpretations of a capella works of old and new music. Its members sing its varied repertoire regularly in well-known choirs such as the RIAS Chamber Choir, the Collegium Vocale Ghent and the Stuttgart Chamber Choir. Their appearances have included in Radialsystem V in Berlin, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Great Synagogue in Berlin’s Rykestrasse and Schloss Elmau in Upper Bavaria. The quintet appeared at the Abu Gosh Vocal Music Festival in 2012 at the invitation of the Goethe Institute and in 2013 with the support of the Johannes Rau Foundation.
The musicians build bridges between traditional and contemporary currents and work as a vocal ensemble with composers from Israel and Germany. In their programme Bewahre meine Seele (Preserve my soul) they bring together in their music texts from Judaism, Christianity and Islam, and their presentation of contemporary Austrian music Pendant – Contemporary positions on ancient music in the Austrian Culture Forum was enthusiastically received. Their album A letter from Naghib Mahfuz has been released on the Vienna Modern Masters label.
