Roy Carroll (born in 1974 in Dublin, Ireland) is a musician and composer and lives in Berlin. His work covers improvisation, composition, choreographic collaboration and practical. experimental research with porous boundaries between the areas. Carroll is interested in electro-acoustic musical processes and their physical and acoustic manifestation in performance. His most recent pieces provoke unstable interplays between various electro-acoustic media such as converters, actuators, amplifiers and signal processing. Roy has created some 22 works together with his partner Maya Matilda Carroll. His works with The Instrument add movement and physicality and the possibilities of the stage and the theatre to his electro-acoustic aesthetic.
