Claude Beausoleil

Claude Beausoleil (*1948, Montreal, Canada) was professor of literature at the University of Quebec in Montreal until 2004. In his literary works, he has developed a characteristic, urban style of poetry in which he regularly portrays the singularly cultural situation in his home region of Quebec. He regularly participates in international literature festivals and colloquia and he is also director of the Lèvres urbaines magazine. He is a member of the Académie Mallarmé. Publications include: "Au milieu du corps l`attraction s`insinue" (1980), "Une certaine fin de siècle" (1983), "Fureur de Mexico" (1992), "Grand hôtel des Étrangers" (1997), "Regarde, tu vois" (2006). Awards include: the Émile-Nelligan prize (1980), the Prix de poésie Terrasses Saint-Sulpice (1991), the Alain-Grandbois prize of the Académie des Lettres du Québec (1997), the Grand Prize of the Festival international de la poésie de Trois-Rivières (1997 und 2004)
