Lection & Talk

On the first Word Pictures evening we present three Italian poets from three generations: Mariangela Gualtieri (*1951 in Cesena), Maddalena Lotter (*1990 in Venice) and Italo Testa (*1972, lives in Milan).

Mariangela Gualtieri founded together with the director Cesare Ronconi Teatro Valdoca, of which she is dramaturge. Since her debut "Antenata" (1992), numerous volumes of poetry and plays have appeared, most recently "A braccia aperte" (2022). In English, the selection volume "Beast of Joy", translated by Anthony Molino and Chrstinia Viti, was published.

Maddalena Lotter published her first books of poems in 2015. In 2022, her second book "Atlante di chi non parla" (Nino Aragno ed.) appeared. Since 2018 she has been co-curator of the A27 poetry series of books by Amos Edizioni.

Italo Testa’s hybrid essay "Autorizzare la speranza. Giustizia poetica e futuro radicale" (2023) was most recently published, previously the poetry collection "Onda statica" (2022). He is co-director of the poetry magazine Ulysses and coordinator of the literary blog Le parole e le cose. Testa teaches Theoretical Philosophy at the University of Parma.
