What can a song be today? How might the European tradition of the art song be reimagined by multilingual artists working between poetry and music? Composers and poets from Berlin and Hamburg come together for the Vocations series to compose new pieces. Their collaborative art songs will have their world premieres on October 26 and December 21 at Heimathafen Neukölln.

Poet and prose writer Avrina Prabala-Joslin (born 1992 in Tamil Nadu) and composer and singer Sol-i So (born 1990 in South Korea) collaboratively developed the cycle after you, i learned to plant a poem, grow a song for soprano and percussion, which will be premiered by Angelika Luz and Rie Watanabe. The song cycle for tenor and live electronics entitled Animita by poet and performance artist Felipe Saéz Riquelme (born 1986 in Chile) and multimedia composer VictorPiano (born 1991 in Chile) will be interpreted by Francisco Huerta and VictorPiano.
