The ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival Münster | Berlin is taking place from 6 to 8 December 2018 in the Kino in der KulturBrauerei cinema in Berlin. At the end of September in this year’s first edition in Münster the Competition winners were chosen by the jury and the public from among the 66 films entered. Now these films from the International Competition, the German-language Competition and the ZEBRINO – Competition for Children and Young People are being shown in Berlin for the first time. The festival will also be showing a selection of films made by the latest generation of college students from Düsseldorf and Cologne. A colloquium discussion on the state of the poetry film in Germany taking as an example North Rhine-Westphalia will round off the programme. A programme of silent films will have a look at the work of such pioneers of the poetry film as Man Ray. And a main focus of the festival will be on Russian films, with Russian poets reading their latest work. The Grand Finale of the festival will be a celebration of the diverse poetry film scene in Berlin. Over three days the Haus für Poesie is presenting the best the poetry film has to offer in the Kino in der KulturBrauerei.

About the ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival
The imaginary worlds of poetry meet the audio-visual possibilities of the short film: the poetry film combines two different artistic genres to create a dynamic new genre. First launched by the Literaturwerkstatt Berlin, now Haus für Poesie, in 2002, the ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival is still the world’s largest platform for poetry films. It presents the diversity and variety of the poetry film genre in various sections in competitions, film programmes, readings by poets, retrospectives, workshops, colloquium discussions, talks and a special programme for kids. Since its launch, the festival has grown steadily and in 2018 it attracted more than 1,200 submissions of films from 97 countries for the Competition. The festival has been a guest in nearly 50 countries around the globe in the past few years.
