Poetry Talk: James Noël “Amid the garbage of public order”
Talk
James Noël HTI writer in conversation with Rike Bolte DEU, literary scholar and translator
James Noël, born in Haiti, is a poet and singer with many faces. He is one of the most important of contemporary Haitian writers. Noël says that he writes to free his body from all the words so as to stride forward lighter than paper in time and history. In his monumental work The Migration of Walls, which is continuously in progress, Noël cross-fades movements of flight and escape with the breaking away of secure foundations and the erection of new walls. A work that is poetically and politically highly topical.
French-German interpreting will be available for this event.
