ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival Münster | Berlin 2018
27. – 30. September at Schloßtheater

• More than 560 films from 73 countries have been already submitted
• Call for Entries until 1. May 2018

The ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival Münster | Berlin will take place from 27 to 30 September 2018 for the second time in the Schloßtheater in Münster. Developed by the House of Poetry in Berlin in 2002, ZEBRA has become the world's largest international platform for poetry films - short films based on poetry.

More than 560 short films from 73 countries have already arrived, and by the end of the submission deadline on May 1, there will be a lot more. A five-member program committee makes the film selection for the international competition. This year the program commission consists of Heinz Hermanns (interfilm berlin), Heiko Strunk (lyricline), Anna Henckel-Donnersmarck (filmmaker and lecturer), Hinemoana Baker (lyricist and singer-songwriter) and Thomas Zandegiacomo Del Bel (Artistic Director of ZEBRA).

Host country in 2018 is the USA - the focus is on the international spoken word scene, which will be presented in performances, readings and films. A retrospective is dedicated to the Beat Generation. An international jury awards prizes worth 12,000 euros. The festival is organized by Filmwerkstatt Münster in cooperation with the Haus für Poesie. It is sponsored by the Kunststiftung NRW, the state of NRW and the city of Münster.

Until the 1st of May poetry films can still be submitted for the festival. The films may be up to 15 minutes long and not older than three years. They must be audiovisual translations of one or more poems. In addition, the festival invites all filmmakers to film this year's festival poem "Endless wall-to-wall carpet (of the VIP foyer)" by Ann Cotten. The directors of the three best films are invited to Münster, meet the poet and get the opportunity to present and discuss their films.
