With Tom Konyves (poet and film maker, University of the Fraser Valley, Canada), Antje Quast (art historian, Cologne), Reynold Reynolds (film maker, New York, USA), Michael Roes (writer and film maker, Berlin), moderated by: Martina Pfeiler (cultural scientist at the TU Dortmund). A simultaneous interpreting service will be offered (German/English).
The poetry film has many names: video poem, cine-poem, video poetry, poetry clip, film poetry or poetry film. Film makers, artists, poets and academics will be exploring what conditions the contemporary poetry film needs to meet as a genre and how the various terms have arisen. The idea is to investigate what concepts are linked with them and where the boundaries lie between them. The panel will be looking at the literary and film history developments that have taken place within the genre and attempt to form a view of how the poetry film will be looking in the future.
