A bilingual poetry encounter of voices and perspectives

“Read and reread” is a bilingual reading with German-speaking and Chinese-speaking poets. It presents key interim results of the “Archway” project and its first German-Chinese workshop for poetry translation.
The participating poets from China and Germany will each read their poems in their native language. At the same time, the audience will receive accompanying translations into German or English. By remaining faithful to the original language, the audience gains deeper access to the rhythm, the imaginative spaces and the cultural texture of the poems.
Between “reading” and “being understood”, poets and audience approach each other in a cross-linguistic encounter - they look at and eavesdrop on each other in the poem, and are touched by the perspective of the other.
In some sections, the poets perform together in tandem constellations from the translation workshop. They alternate between reading the original and the translation, creating a multilingual, cross-perspective resonance space on stage.
