The programme of the ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival Münster | Berlin. International competition. Perspective Russia. Focus Berlin is online! From 6 to 8 December 2018, the festival will take place in the cinema in the KulturBrauerei and in the Haus für Poesie. It shows the best the poetry film has to offer. From now tickets can be purchased.

We’ll be celebrating the opening of the ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival in Berlin with guests, film makers and poets. The winning films from the ZEBRA Festival Münster | Berlin in Münster from September 2018 will be shown in the presence of the artists who made them. The invited authors read from their new works. To set the tone for the country focus, the festival will begin with a musical mix of Russia and Berlin with the group KARAGOD joining Berlin beatbox artist Friedel to combine the tradition of Slavic music with the present.

“Pyataya noga” (the fifth leg) is an idiom that sums up the position of video poetry in Russian culture. It presents Russian poets and film makers who are experimenting with video poetry and shows a selection of their work.

Can we strengthen poetry film production in Germany, excite curiosity and continue to expand expertise? In this colloquium discussion we will be having a look at the perspectives for the genre in the past, present and future and its connection to television and new media.

The fascination for poetry films has long captured the students of German universities and film schools. The festival presents the latest generation of university films from Düsseldorf and Cologne.

THE AVANTGARDES OF THE POETRY FILM

This flashback is dedicated to works by the avantgardes of the experimental film in the 1920s. The selection of great classics of the American experimental film and the French Surrealists is accompanied live by Carsten-Stephan Graf von Bothmer, one of Germany’s hottest silent film musicians.
