poesiefestival berlin: John Burnside to give the 2017 Berlin Poetry Lecture

The Scottish poet and novelist John Burnside will be giving the 2017 Berlin Poetry Lecture in the Academy of Arts on Pariser Platz on 18 June. The event is taking place under the aegis of the poesiefestival berlin.

The title of the lecture is ‘Where executives would never want to tamper?’ It will be discussing the question raised in the sub-title of ‘how poetry survives in an age of cultural totalitarianism.’ John Burnside will be talking about the unstable condition of our world and the value of poetry. The lecture will be published as a book in a bilingual edition by Wallstein Verlag.
