18th poesiefestival berlin: tickets go on sale

11.05.2017

The programme for the 18th poesiefestival berlin: Europe_ Fata Morgana is online from today and tickets are going on sale. This year, the idea of Europe is at the heart of the festival. Around 170 poets and artists from 42 countries are bringing poetry to the stage in all its diversity – in readings, performances, concerts and exhibitions.

Weltklang – Night of Poetry with John Burnside (Scotland), Yasuki Fukushima (Japan), Mila Haugová (Slovakia), M. NourbeSe Philip (Tobago/Canada) and Jan Wagner (Germany) and more is the opening event of the festival. Poets‘ Corner presents Berlin’s poets in eight districts of the city.

In Studio Europa, the festival is presenting literary discoveries in a panorama of contemporary European poetry, with five young poets, acclaimed in their own countries, offering their poetic view on world events. In three D poetry, artists from around the world living in Berlin experiment with the three genres of dance, text and music. The Spoken brings together first-class international Poetry Slammers and Spoken Word artists. Just a Word, Europe gives a multilingual hearing to poetic perspectives on Europe from the outside, from 22 countries adjoining the European Union; and this year‘s VERSschmuggel / reVERSible makes the first ever meeting between Kurdish and German languages and poetry possible.

The Poetry Market on the last day of the festival puts a special focus on Dresden, which will have the opportunity to show itself as the cosmopolitan, colourful and multilingual city that it is in a programme of events on the stage and for children.
