Josefine Berkholz (b. 1994 in Durham, North Carolina) grew up in Middle Franconia and Berlin. She has been writing since she could hold a pen, since she was 13 mostly poetry and Spoken Word. She had one of her biggest successes in the 2010 German-language Poetry Slam Championships Final, in which she came second. She made her debut with the lyrix literature competition in 2009, where she performed for the first time with other young writers. She then successfully took part in other youth competitions such as the Treffen junger Autoren (Meeting of Young Writers), the lyrix competitions in subsequent years and the THEO Prize for Young Literature. Since 2010 she has been giving poetry slam workshops for young people and has appeared as a slammer and poet for the Goethe Institute, Deutschlandradio and ZDF Kultur among others. Since October 2013 she has been studying Literary Writing at the Deutsches Literaturinstitut (German Literature Institute) in Leipzig.
