With colourful market hustle and bustle, poetry and music, the Poetry Market forms the traditional finale of the poesiefestival berlin – in the open air and with free entry. Publishers and new and used booksellers invite you to browse the new arrivals and rummage through the rare and unusual finds. A lyrical-muscial stage program takes care of entertainment with poetry readings and concerts. And for kids there is a special games and craft program. There is food and drinks aplenty. The Poetry Market is an enjoyable poetic afternoon out in the open for the whole family. In the case of rain the Poetry Market will be moved inside the Academy of the Arts.

Readings from: Andreas Altmann, Maria Barnas, Ricardo Domeneck, Ulrike Draesner, Christian Filips, Anna Hetzer, Nancy Hünger, Björn Kuhligk, Yang Lian, Maria Natt, Kerstin Preiwuß, Stephan Reich, Katharina Schultens, Daniela Seel, Tzveta Sofronieva, Rainer Stolz, Christoph Szalay, Ryan Van Winkle, Charlotte Warsen, Ron Winkler, Judith Zander and student prize-winners from the lyrix poetry competition from Deutschlandfunk.

A poetry/fashion performance by Lisa D.: whoever wants to feel poetry really close to their body can bring their own t-shirts, and have the eternal verses of eminent poets printed onto them twitter-length and free of charge.

Members of the art collective Collective Task – poets and visual artists from New York and Berlin, will auction artworks they have created.

Denis Thouard will carry out a philosophical essay on the “Names of Poetry”. The activity is part of a poet-philosopher exchange with the “Long Night of Philosophy”, which takes place on the same day in the Institut français Berlin (Kurfürstendamm 211), from 19:00-07:00. As a counterpart to this, the poets Monika Rinck and Cia Rinne will appear at their event.
