Ursula Rucker and Mike Ladd reject all conventional ideas about the art form known as speech-song, and resist being pinned down to any musical and poetic styles. Rucker uses elements from jazz, soul and trip-hop and the enchanting power of the spoken word, while Ladd moves from electro via punk to pop, combined with the rebellious energy of hip-hop and the linguistic expressiveness of rap. With their words and musical tools they attack abuses and call for political and social change – an evening combining recitation, spoken word and rap, hypnotic music and loud lyricism.
