Pianos that turn random letters into notes and loudspeakers that translate images in sound choreography. At the AVATAR exhibition will present digital poetry from Quebec, including installations from Jocelyn Robert, Christof Migone, Émile Morin and Sabica Senez. Pierre-André Arcand will be performing at the opening event.
Digital poetry works on the one hand with hybrid texts involving word, image and sound, on the other with the symbolic language of computers and the Internet. The “AVATAR. Digital Poetry” exhibition will present poetry against the background of the digitalisation of artistic production and communication.

Works by Joan Brossa, Guillem Viladot, Iglesias and Del Marquet

Images and words have been closely related since time immemorial. In the 20^th century, a literary genre named concrete poetry emerged in which the arrangement of words is of equal importance in conveying meaning as the words themselves. This exhibition presents concrete poetry from Catalonia with works by Joan Broassa (Barcelona, 1919-1998), Guillem Viladot (Agramunt, 1922-Barcelona, 1999) and Iglesias Del Marquet (Artesa de Lleida, 1932 - Barcelona, 1989).
There are conceptual parallels between these authors and concrete poets from the Darmstadt Circle, namely Daniel Spoerri, Dieter Roth, Claus Bremer, Emmet Williams. The exhibition brings together 30 "poemas visuales" by Brossa, 24 "Pósters Poemas" by Viladot and "Postales Noramericanas" by Del Marquet. There is also an anthology in which concrete poets from Catalonia celebrate the artists on display.

The CENSEO | GENERO Rezensionsautomat (Literary Criticism Machine) creates a topsy-turvy world. If you follow the monitor’s instructions, you will shortly receive a printed review from one column and the respective poem from the other. With CENSEO | GENERO, a new form of literary criticism, based solely on automatic text generation, is being introduced for the first time. It is at one and the same time a paradigm of the literary industry and an ironic commentary on it.
CENSEO | GENERO was designed by the author and literary editor Stephan Krass and represents a development of Hans Magnus Enzensberger’s Poetry Machine.
