“Breakfast Disrupted” is an image and language laboratory, a space in which vision and hearing fold into each other and images play with words. The poesiefestival berlin provides a theatrical answer to the complexity of the Austrian writer’s texts and approaches her extensive work with collages of video, image and word. Mayröcker herself will be reading new texts.
The writer Friederike Mayröcker has again and again been inspired by pictures and written about her encounters with the work of Picasso, Dalí and contemporary painters and photographers. But Friederike Mayröcker has herself drawn, too. Stories about pictures, stories in pictures and pictures in language. Looking at the world with eyes wide open is typical for Friederike Mayröcker. The way that impressions and pictures saved in the brain can become language, this process of translation and communication, often metaphorical and fragmented, is something that has occupied her over her entire writing career
