El Congo Allen Daniel Allen Oberto (born in Holguin, Cuba, in 1979) alias El Congo Allen started playing the trumpet when he was nine. His style combines classical jazz, the art of improvisation and experiments with Afro-Cuban and electronic sounds. Since studying theatre and music he has lived and worked in New Orleans, Detroit, New York and Ann Arbor and has made a name for himself as a bar pianist, at bluegrass jams and punk circus parades, and as a director and actor.
