Vít Zouhar (*1966, Czech Republic) is a composer, musicologist and university lecturer. He studied in Brünn and Graz, became a doctor of musicology and qualified as a professor at the University of Ostrava in the musical education department. From 1992 to 2004, he was an assistant lecturer at the Institute for Electronic Music and Acoustics in Graz. Since 1992, he has been teaching at the Palacký University in Olomouc. Zouhar has composed more than 50 orchestral, chamber and electronic works, as well as sound installations. He has won various prizes for composition (Generation, Musica Nova, Czech Music Fund etc.) and composition scholarships (City of Graz). Recently, Zouhar has been working closely with the DAMA DAMA – percussion ensemble, the Ensemble Damian and the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra. His compositions have appeared on numerous CDs.
