Axel Goodbody, born in 1950, is Professor for German Studies and European Culture at the University of Bath (England). After graduating in German Studies and Romance Studies at Trinity College Dublin he taught as a reader in English Language and Culture at the University of Kiel, where he gained his doctorate with a thesis on Nature Poetry in Romanticism and in the Twentieth Century. His main research subjects are literary representations of nature and the environment in literature since the 1970s. He is currently working on ‘Climate Scepticism: Cultures and Subjectivities’ as a Fellow of the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society in Munich. He is also heading up the literary dimension of a three-year interdisciplinary project on ‘Energy Stories’, which places experiences of the Energy Change in their historic and cultural context. He co-edits the journal Ecozon@. European Journal of Literature, Culture and Environment and the book series Nature, Culture and Literature (Rodopi/ Brill).
