What’s the point of poetry?
Poetry is under pressure to justify its existence – not just in Germany, but everywhere in Europe. So 47 poets from all over Europe are now making their statements on the question ‘What’s the point of poetry?’ with fundamental answers about the relationship between poetry, society and culture in their countries. Their points of view and positions are to be brought together in a photo exhibition in the Academy of Arts from 8 to 15 June as part of the poesiefestival berlin. The exhibition is at the same time a demonstration and an act of solidarity and will hopefully stimulate a wide-based international debate.
