10,000 poems on lyrikline

From Brecht to Tranströmer, from Celan to Szymborska – the voices of poets from around the world can be heard on the Internet portal lyrikline. Raed Wahesh from Syria is going online on 1 November 2016, making him the 1,111th poet, and his poems will make the total number of poems on lyrikline reach 10,000. Thanks to nearly 15,000 translations, the poems in the original from a total of 71 languages can also be understood. This linguistic diversity makes lyrikline unique in the world as a poem portal.

The Haus für Poesie, which runs the website, is being given curatorial support from now on. Each year the Haus für Poesie will nominate a poetry expert who will select four German voices. This year’s selection has been made by Tristan Marquardt, and he has picked Michael Fehr from Switzerland, Austrian poets Martina Hefter and Margret Kreidl and German poet Charlotte Warsen.

On 24 November, the four poets, who will now be recorded in the lyrikline studio, will be presenting their texts at the Lyrikline Live reading.
