Madame Nielsen: An Evening for Inger Christensen
For her evening for Inger Christensen, writer and performer Madame Nielsen moved into the daadgalerie for three days – with a suitcase, provisions, a few bottles of red wine and a small library. Engaging with random passers-by, she created an evening for the poet Inger Christensen. She played guitar and improvised on the piano, smoked, drank red wine, went to sleep, returned to the piano again. Resulting from the encounter with the audience, held in compliance with all social distancing regulations, was a tribute to the grande dame of Danish poetry and a touch-free symbol of a longing for touch. A video documenting Madame Nielsen’s three days in the empty gallery will be broadcast by the Haus für Poesie.
is currently a guest of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program.
