As part of the inaugural Atlanta Poetry Festival and Translation Summit, Westminster is hosting an international panel and discussion. After translating each other’s poetry last summer in Berlin, three poets writing in English and three poets writing in German will meet again to discuss their experience and address the role translation plays in their lives as artists and citizens of various nations, cultures, and identities.

Conversation with Jericho Brown | Yevgeniy Breyger | Georg Less
Should poetry take on an activist role, or should it offer an alternative to our contentious political world, or does it do both? In this conversation, the role of poetry in an era of deep division and distrust will be discussed, with a focus on the current racial reckoning in the US and the persistence of antisemitism in Germany. The conversation and Q&A will be conducted in English; however, a translator will be on hand, so the audience may pose questions in English or German.
